Real Inflation

Don't trust, verify.

The ultimate goal of this website is to have a large database with the prices all types of goods and services over the years to measure inflation in a proper way. Since inflation is something personal, it should also be calculated for you personally. This allows you to find out what your Personal Inflation Rate is. For this, we need to build up a large database with prices of goods & services over the years, so if you have any data to share, please upload your data (including source).

Real Estate:

I started 10 years ago with an illusion that everything will be better in the future. Starting with an starters salary I couldn't buy a home in Amsterdam that was a suitable (2 bedrooms was the norm). Currently, 10 years and 2 children later, I earn double and would like to buy a home that is suitable (3 bedrooms and a garden if possible is the norm). We have found the house at the edge of the city and looked at the WOZ-value (calculated by the government). Conclusion: the house is still not affordable to me.

The price is nowhere near the published index figures.

Although i can follow the logic:
"Money printer go BRRR" ->

lower interest rates ->

higher loans for same monthly cost + tax stimulus from Parents to Children + no interest return on savings, thus investments in real estate ->

leads to increase real estate  prices.

But this is the case for so more situations which is not reported in line with what my day to day experience is.

So a mobile phone in 2019 cost +/- half of the price in 2015?

Albeit the most expensive iPhone is not the benchmark, the iPhone 6S Plus price (EUR 1.149 - 10 sep 2015 ) is certainly not double the price of the Iphone 11 Pro Max (EUR 1.659 - 14 sep 2019 ).

The Donald Duck Index:

The Donald Duck Index is (https://biflatie.nl/de-donald-duck-is-nu-35-keer-zo-duur-als-in-1952/) an excellent example what this website intention is.  Show historically the real prices (Real Inflation) and compare those with the public inflation (Bull Shit Inflation) figures (https://opendata.cbs.nl/statline/#/CBS/nl/dataset/83131NED/table?ts=1609859065025).

Please help me with creating a database that includes all sorts of inflation, such that you can see your Nominal Individual Price Rate.

(of course all proof will be public available).
